Interior Remodeling in Prince George's and Montgomery County, MD

Most interior projects are small on paper and messy in practice. Floors in one room. A wall removed. Paint through the whole house. Each one touches the others.

L&T Contractors handles the whole interior with one crew, so the floor, the drywall and the paint show up in the right order. We finish on time or we pay you $500 a day.

Order Matters More Than Anything

Paint before floors and you ruin the floors. Floors before drywall repair and you ruin them too. Most DIY horror stories are sequencing stories. We schedule the interior in this order: demolition, electrical and plumbing, drywall, paint, flooring, trim, final touch-up. You do not manage any of it.

What We Do Inside

Flooring: hardwood, luxury vinyl and tile.

Drywall repair, new walls and removing walls.

Interior painting and trim.

Doors, baseboards and casing.

Whole rooms from bare studs to finished.

Taking Out a Wall

Open floor plans are the most requested change we hear. The first question is always whether the wall carries weight. If it does, we plan a beam and talk about what that costs. If it does not, we move faster. We check before we quote, not after.

Dust, Noise and Living at Home

Interior work is dusty. We seal work areas, protect floors, and clean at the end of each day. You will still hear us. We tell you which days are loud.

Cost

Interior jobs are priced per project after we walk the rooms. You get one firm number in writing, with each room itemized so you can compare bids line by line.

Flooring: Prepare the Subfloor First

Floors fail at the subfloor. A hardwood floor over an uneven or damp base cups and gaps. Luxury vinyl shows every bump beneath it. Tile cracks over a flexing floor. Before any flooring goes in, we check that the subfloor is flat, dry and solid, and fix it if it is not. That step is invisible in the finished room and is the reason the floor still looks good in ten years.

Hardwood: warm and refinishable, and sensitive to moisture.

Luxury vinyl: durable, waterproof and a good fit for kitchens, basements and busy homes.

Tile: the choice for wet rooms and entries, with a subfloor that must be rigid.

Drywall: The Finish You Notice

Good drywall is flat, with seams that vanish under paint. Bad drywall shows every joint when light hits it from the side. The difference is in the taping, the number of coats and the sanding. Hold a work light against a new wall at an angle and you can judge it in seconds. We check ours that way.

Doors, Trim and Details

New doors, baseboards and casings change a room more than most people expect. Wider baseboards and clean casings make a house feel finished. We install them last, once the floors and paint are done, and caulk and fill every seam before the final coat.

Rooms That Change Purpose

Plenty of interior projects change what a room is for: a bedroom becoming an office, a dining room opening to the kitchen, a den becoming a bedroom for a parent moving in. Each one brings different needs for lighting, outlets and doors. We ask how you will live in the room before we measure it.

Keeping the House Livable

We confine work to the rooms we are in, seal doorways with plastic, and clean up at the end of each day. If you have kids, pets or a home office, tell us at the estimate. We plan the order of rooms around how you live.

What to Expect on a Typical Interior Job

A walk-through where we measure, photograph and list every room in the scope.

A written estimate with each room itemized.

A schedule that puts loud and dusty work first and finish work last.

A walk-through at the end with a punch list we fix before final payment.

Small jobs are not treated as second class. A single room gets the same written scope and the same promise as a whole-house project.

When to Combine Projects

If you plan new floors and paint in the same rooms, do them together. One setup, one cleanup, one schedule. Doing them months apart means paying twice for the same prep. Tell us everything you are considering and we price it as one plan and as separate pieces so you can see the savings.

Lighting and Outlets Are Part of the Plan

Older rooms often have one ceiling fixture and two outlets. Today you probably want recessed lights, outlets near every desk and a switch where your hand lands as you walk in. When walls are open for other work, adding circuits and boxes is cheap. After paint, it is not. We walk through each room and mark where you reach for a switch or plug in a lamp, then plan the electrical to match.

Ask us about dimmers, USB outlets and ceiling fans while the walls are open. They are small upgrades that change how a room feels.

Every job comes with the L&T Promise. We finish on time or we pay you $500 for every late day, up to $2,500. Your home stays livable, the work carries a 2-year warranty, and you get a same-day answer when you call. Delays you cause and permit or inspection delays are excluded. Full terms are on the Promise page.
